I say this all the time to patients…

Hello! I hope you are enjoying your summer! We went to Colorado with my family which was great, but vacations have sure changed with a little one. I didn’t necessarily come home rested, but it was nice to get away and be in the mountains with so many people that I love so much and don’t get to see very often.

Our little Jayhawk…

IMG_1877.JPG

I am still working part-time at CentreSpringMD, and I absolutely love it. I cannot believe how much I have learned in just 8 months. I also get to work with some amazing people who are so passionate about helping people feel their best. I am very lucky.

Time to get to the topic of this post…I have ALWAYS wanted to tone up. Unfortunately, I spent years pushing way too hard to get the body I wanted which led to adrenal fatigue (which I didn’t know I had until I had integrative blood work done). Awesome. Adrenal fatigue leads to many things including issues with hormones.

About a month ago, I started to notice that I had more energy, my digestive issues were getting better, and I was sleeping like a rock. Life was pretty good. I felt good. I felt like I was ready to do more. Since having Henry, I have been walking, doing yoga, and going to barre3. All of these things make me feel good and not depleted afterwards. Anyway, I decided to join a group that focuses on lifting heavy with some HIIT sprinkled in for 6 weeks. Again, I really thought I was ready. Well, 9 days in, I could feel the adrenal fatigue set in again. One HUGE indicator was that my period was 4 days late. I have been very regular since I stopped nursing. I knew something was wrong. I say this all the time to patients at the center…listen to your body. It will tell you when something is wrong. It was time for me to start listening to mine even though I was 9 days into a 6 week program that I paid a lot of money for. It is a little bit of a tough pill to swallow because I won’t get the body I want, but, in reality, I don’t have the time or body type to keep up with what it takes to stay super toned. In the end, I want to have a healthy body that can perform in functional ways. Walking, yoga, and barre3 can give this to me. I go to barre3 3 days a week, and I am starting to use 3 or 4 pound weights which is helping me to feel like I am lifting heavy (for me). Honestly, the workouts are much harder since I went through training. It is the perfect balance for my body.

Ironically, the day that I decided to hit the pause button on the program I bought is the same day that I did a Facebook Live with Dr. Taz for her new book called The Super Woman RX. If you are trying to figure out how to regain your health and vitality, you need to check this book out! Please note, I was not asked to write about this book in my blog. I believe so strongly in what Dr. Taz is trying to do for women everywhere that I had to mention it! By the way, my power type, Savvy Chic, needs to balance higher intensity workouts with more gentle workouts in order to keep her adrenals in check. That afternoon, I went to barre3 instead of lifting heavy or doing a HIIT workout. Ahhhh…it felt so good and so right for my body.

All this to say, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY PEOPLE! If you are willing to listen, it will tell you exactly what you need. I envy the people that can train hard and not feel depleted. Keep doing you!

Have a great weekend!

+Take Care of Your Gut

Hello! Henry is sleeping and it is raining outside, so it is the perfect time to make a cup of green tea and write a long overdue blog post.

Since the last time I blogged, a few things have happened. First, Tyler and I went to Canyon Ranch in Lenox, MA. We left Henry with family in Boston, and headed to Canyon Ranch for two days of much needed R&R. We took a 2 hour nap once we were able to get into our room, and then I slept 12 hours that night. We definitely needed the rest! If you have never been to Canyon Ranch, it is a wellness resort where you can go to all types of classes from yoga to tabata to lectures on various health and wellness topics. They also have a state-of-the-art spa where we got our first couples massage. It was amazing. After 2 days away from Henry, we were ready to get back and love on him. We know we need to do things like this more often. It was good for all of us although we were pretty tired when we got home. It is exhausting flying with an (almost) ONE-year-old. Yes, our sweet boy is going to be ONE in a week. We can’t believe it. It seems like yesterday that we were getting ready to come home from the hospital.

IMG_4532

On to my gut…I have had issues with my gut for some time now. To be honest, I have been dealing with it for almost 8 years which is ironic given that I am a health coach. I am supposed to feel amazing, right? Wrong. I am doing everything “right”, and my gut is still not happy.

Specifically, I have been dealing with nausea, loose stools, and diarrhea. The diarrhea has been happening on and off for the last year. Given what I do, I know that this is not normal and not a way to live. I know that poor gut health can lead to a whole host of issues down the road. I actually had a stool test done a few years ago with my conventional doctor, and everything came back “normal” even though my symptoms were not normal. Thankfully, I am working with some amazing providers at CentreSpringMD. My symptoms came to a head about a month ago, so we decided to do a GI Effects test which is an integrative stool test. Turns out, I have almost no good bacteria in my gut. Go figure! I have a lot of the bad guys, but we need a good diversity of both. Luckily, I do not have any infections or inflammation (thank goodness).

The good news is that we can repopulate the good bacteria. I am on an antibiotic, very strong probiotic, a prebiotic, and glutamine to heal the lining of the gut. It will take a while to heal my gut, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to heal it naturally.

If you are having issues with your gut and do not know what is going on, I highly recommend getting a GI Effects test done. I don’t know about you, but I rather have answers to my issues instead of guesses. There is no reason to suffer.

That’s all I have for now! Take care of yourself and your gut! 🙂

Landing My Dream Job

Hello! I hope you are doing well! It’s been a busy few months around here!

Henry is growing and changing everyday! Between months 9 and 10, he grew into a little boy…like overnight. He learned to army crawl (and now loves to crawl to the fireplace…eek), feed himself (he loves bananas, avocados, and scrambled eggs), and he grew 4 teeth. It is true that the days (can be) long and the months are short.

“Look, Mom. I am SO big!!!”

IMG_9900.JPG

In other news, I landed my dream job as the lead Health Coach at CentreSpringMD, I am still pinching myself that I get to work alongside some of the best integrative providers in the country. Their main goal is to get to the root cause of your issue/issues instead of prescribing medications right out of the gate. They focus on diet, lifestyle, supportive supplements, relaxation techniques, and many other holistic modalities.

As a health coach, I help people navigate the protocol given to them by their provider. I am also an accountability partner. We set small, attainable, goals toward your bigger goal. It can be challenging to make a lot of changes at once, and, oftentimes, having someone to check-in with can help to keep you on track. It brings me so much joy to help people feel good because we all deserve it! I have met so many people that just don’t feel right, but their doctor tells them that they are fine because nothing came up in their blood work. I was one of those people until I found CentreSpringMD. Don’t settle for less than you deserve.

If you live in the Atlanta area and are not feeling your best, I highly recommend seeing one of our providers. Even if you don’t live in Atlanta, look for an integrative doctor in your area. Your symptoms could stem from hormones, inflammation, stress, or you may not be absorbing your nutrients properly. You won’t know until you get an integrative panel of blood work done.

In conclusion, never give up on your dreams. I have worked hard to get to where I am but not without the support of my friends, family, and, most notably, husband. I never dreamed that the few conversations I had a few years ago about wanting to be a health coach at CentreSpringMD would come to fruition. Plant those seeds friends!

Happy SPRING!

My New Favorite Products

Happy New Year! I hope the year is off to a healthy and happy start for you! I would be remiss if I did not say that this post is long overdue. I could give a you a million excuses as to why I haven’t written a post in so long, but it is not worth it. What matters is that I am back and ready to share some of my favorite new (to me) products with you!

I am constantly reading healthy living blogs, following inspiring people on Instagram, and sending myself emails of things that I want to try. If I actually bought everything that I sent to myself, I would be broke. Therefore, I do my best to only buy things that I think will be life changing. 🙂

Below is a list of 10 things that I have been using since the new year (some before), and I absolutely LOVE and trust them which is why I wanted to share them with you.

FullSizeRender.jpg

From left to right…

  1. Origins A Perfect World Moisturizer– I have tried a few moisturizers from Origins, and I love this one for the winter. I use the Mega-Bright SPF 30 in the summer.
  2. Physicians Formula Organic Wear Mascara– I learned about this mascara from a blog post on STAT Wellness. I have been looking for a more natural mascara, and this one is free of chemicals and stays on all day.
  3. Sally B’s Antioxidant Nighttime Serum– Sally B’s is a local company in Atlanta, but she ships everywhere. Her products are AMAZING!!! I finally bought her nighttime serum as I was not happy with what I was using. It absorbs very well, and I wake up looking refreshed and not red or puffy. I love that it neutralizes free radicals and is made up of plant based ingredients.
  4. Crystal Body Deodorant– A few years ago, I learned about the dangers of aluminum in deodorant. Aluminum is the active ingredient in antiperspirants. It actually blocks sweat glands which is not good. You want your body to do what it is naturally meant to do…perspire. What is a person do? Smell? I have searched high and low, and Crystal Body Deodorant works the best for me.
  5. Acure Facial Cleansing Creme– I have tried many facial cleaners over the years, and I have not found one quite like Acure’s Facial Cleansing Creme Argon + Mint. I love that it is paraben and sulfite free. I also love that it does not dry out my skin.
  6. Terra Sweet Plantains– My husband loves chips, and ever since having Henry I have been craving salty things. I have been reading about plantain chips for some time now and was hesitant to try them, but we were both pleasantly surprised! They are lower in carbohydrates and taste delicious! The Terra chips, in particular, are made with two ingredients: plantains and coconut oil. Awesome. They are really good with a spoonful of almond butter.
  7. Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides– I have definitely tried all kinds of protein powders from vegan to whey to collagen. The one that makes me feel the best is collagen. I am working on healing my gut, so I am not surprised that it makes me feel the best. Collagen is known to help heal the gut. It is an added bonus that Vital Proteins is grass fed and pasture raised.
  8. Nature’s Way Organic Sambucus Zinc Lozenges– My mom is a big believer in sucking on zinc lozenges when you feel a cold coming on. I ran over to Whole Foods a few weeks ago when I felt a cold coming on which for me is a scratchy throat. I found these amazing lozenges. I only had to take one, and within 4-6 hours I was feeling better. These are made up of elderberry, zinc, and vitamin C all of which are known to help with the common cold.
  9. Oscillococcinum for Flu-Like Symptoms– A few days ago, I started to feel the flu coming on (yuck), and, well, moms aren’t allowed to get sick. Ha! Seriously though, I got food poisoning when Henry was really little, and it was AWFUL. Nursing a baby while feeling yucky is the worst. Anyway, I ran over to Whole Foods (again) to buy some gluten free chicken noodle soup and crackers, and I decided to see if there was something for flu-like symptoms. Low and behold my favorite company had a product. Ya’ll it worked! Within a few hours, my symptoms cleared. I could not believe it. The key is to catch it early!!!
  10. OlaSprout Bendable Baby Training Spoon– I had to throw in one of my favorite baby products. This spoon is ours and Henry’s favorite spoon. I learned about it from CanDo Kiddo. It is bendable and perfect for Henry as he is learning how to feed himself. The best part is that he can chew on it which is great since he is teething (although nothing has come through yet). It is also 100% BPA free!

I would love to know if you try any of these products! Let me know what you think.

Have a great week!

A Year of Firsts

Hello on this gloomy Monday afternoon! It has been raining since yesterday, and, to be honest, I kind of like it.We haven’t had rain in forever, and it is a good excuse to stay in and give Henry extra hugs and kisses. 🙂

Speaking of Henry, since he was born in May, we have experienced many “firsts” with our sweet little man. The most exciting and fun first has been Christmas. He LOVES the lights on our Christmas tree and up our banister. We bought him a sweet little stocking with an “H” on it which his Nana says is too small and she has a bigger one for him at her house. We will get in a bigger one next year. This was just too cute to pass up.

IMG_7845.JPG

I also got the idea from a friend to put Henry’s hospital hat, wristband, and our wristbands in an ornament. I am glad I saved everything!

IMG_7769.JPG

We have also dived headfirst into the land of eating solid food! Henry actually practices the act of chewing even when he is not eating. We are going to need to teach him how to chew with his mouth closed at some point, but, for now, he seems to be taking to this new skill. So far we have tried oatmeal and sweet potatoes. Next up, carrots, butternut squash, peas, greens beans, avocado, and then fruit. I made my own butternut squash puree today. Very fun! I am already looking forward to the mashable solids phase! I am following Rachel’s Food Before One field guide from CanDo Kiddo. To say this has been helpful is an understatement!

IMG_7761.JPG

Yummy!

Henry also experienced his first shopping trip to IKEA to buy the white Kallax shelf below. We can’t stand clutter, and I needed a system for organizing his stuff. I got the idea, of course, from CanDo Kiddo.

“I’ve got everything I need to go to IKEA, Mom.”

Lastly, Tyler and I used to go to The Family Dog every Sunday for about a year before we found out we were pregnant. Tyler gets a beer, and I get a glass of wine. It is a nice way to head into the week. I am still nursing, so I usually have to pump and dump depending on how generous the bartender is feeling. Below is a picture of my boys from last night. They adore each other.

IMG_7841.JPG

Speaking of nursing, I thought I was going to start the weaning process at 6 months. Well, it is still working, so we are going to continue on. I am so grateful that I have been able to nurse for this long. At most, I would go to a year which is a very short amount of time in the grand skeem of things. We will see…

The next big first for us will be flying over Christmas. Wish us luck!

I wish you a very healthy and happy holiday season! Take time to slow down and enjoy the time with your loved ones.

KNOW Better Bread

Happy Friday! I hope you are having a great day wherever you are!

Today, I would like to talk about an amazing company called KNOW Better Bread that is located right here in Atlanta! As a health nut/foodie, I am always excited to try new products that are made with wholesome ingredients, good for me, and made locally.

I had heard of KNOW Better Bread from a friend a few months ago. They are a very new company. KNOW Foods helps health conscious consumers achieve their diet and fitness goals by producing a nutritionally superior, natural, non-GMO, grain/gluten-free and great tasting alternative to traditional grain/gluten-based foods. Yay!

Last week, another friend of mine emailed me asking if I had tried their bread (my friends know me well) and put me in contact with the founder, Steve Hanley. They both asked if I would be interested in writing a review on my blog. So here we are. All I have to say is that this company ROCKS! Not only is Steve enthusiast about his products, but he answered every question I had almost immediately. Also, he sent me this amazing package of goodies to try! I mean…come on! A foodie’s dream!!!

IMG_7259.JPG

This page includes affiliate links, which means I earn a small commission when you purchase products through these links. I only link to products I use or love.

I recently found out that I have a serious intolerance to wheat and am cutting out wheat and gluten 100%. Awesome. Bye bye my beloved Ezekial bread. Therefore, this shipment showed up at my door at the perfect time. All of their products are grain-free, gluten-free, contain no trans fats, non-gmo, high protein, high fiber, low sodium, and low carb.  You are probably wondering what the heck does it contain. Well, most of their products are made with almond flour, coconut flour, chia, flax, and coconut oil. Hello superfoods! Coconut flour makes things super dense which I love! It is also loaded with fiber which helps to keep my fuller longer.

IMG_7260.JPG

The one ingredient that they use that is new to me is called allulose. Have you heard of it??? It is a sweetener that has a 0 glycemic index. I emailed Steve about it, and here is what he said…

We love Allulose – that ingredient is an absolute game-changer!  It is:

  1. Natural
  2. Certified Non-GMO
  3. GRAS
  4. Kosher Certified
  5. Scheduled to be certified organic next year!
  6. Has a zero glycemic index!
  7. Only 10% of the calories

Sounds good to me! In my opinion, all of their products have just the right amount of sweetness especially those with Enjoy Life Mini-Chips. I love the muffins and waffles. I especially like to have a waffle with sunbutter on it an hour or so before I workout. OMG. It is the perfect fuel.

IMG_7262.JPG

IMG_7341.JPG

Their buns and slices and also great. Again, both are so dense that they fill me up, but in a good way.

IMG_7263.JPG

IMG_7345.JPG

The bread is a little pricey, BUT you pay for what you get! For 2 packs of the slices, you get 8 slices for $10. If you want to feel good about what you are putting in your body, it is money well spent to switch to this bread. 1 slice is enough for me, so I can make the 8 slices last a while. All of their products freeze really well! They recommend consuming what you buy in a few days or put it in the refrigerator or freezer which is a GOOD THING! You want your food to go bad quickly. It means there are not a lot of fillers in there to make it last longer on the shelf.

Here is what Steve said about the price of their products:

We are seeking to “reimagine bread” and transition bread from a “commodity price, sawdust ingredients, toxic in nature” situation to a “higher price, nutritionally superior, healthiest part of your meal” type perception…

If you are interested in trying this awesome bread, you can place an order here. Otherwise, if you live in Atlanta, you can find it at Corner Cafe or Atlanta Fish Market. It’s also available at a few other places in the country. Check out the KNOW Better Bread website to learn more!

Now go out there and have some fun with your family and friends this weekend! A friend from Chicago is coming to visit us this weekend! It certainly has been a good week for Chicago. Go Cubbies! My family and I are pretty proud to be from Chi-Town!

Life Lately

Hello! I hope you are doing well!

It is has been a while since I posted, but life has been, well, busy! At the end of September, we drove to Tennessee to meet my sister, brother-in-law, and twin nieces. The girls and Henry are just 7 weeks apart. We had a great time. We all agreed it was nice to get away (even if it took them 10 plus hours to get there and 5 plus hours for us) after a summer of staying in with the babes.

IMG_6688.JPG

I miss the girls so much!

Henry went down the slide for the first time in TN with Tyler. This picture is a my everything right now. I love my boys.

IMG_6793.PNG

Almost everyday, Henry and I get outside to play now that the weather is cooler. He loves it!

IMG_6713.JPG

Henry is doing very well! He has had his first stuffy nose and “sick” visit to the doctor (turns out he was breathing just fine…he was just trying to find his voice). I was a mess. Literally, I was crying as I was driving him to the doctor’s office. Of course, he was all smiley and happy in the back. He is also rolling over (mostly to the right), sleeping through the night, and we think he is starting to get his first tooth. He is almost 5 months old which is crazy!!! He is such a joy!

img_6954

Also, he goes back and forth between his thumb and his WubbaNub…which will it be buddy??? We are glad he can self soothe with this thumb, but we would prefer if he liked his paci better because it is a lot harder to take his thumb away. Tyler and I were both thumb suckers, sooooo we are thinking Henry will be too.

img_7077

img_6868

As for me, I feel like I am doing a good job of taking care of myself. I am loading up on whole, real, foods including tons of veggies, fruit, healthy fats, and protein. I actually started using Dr. Axe’s Bone Broth Protein, and, I have to say, it is pretty tasty. I have only tried the vanilla flavor. I wasn’t sure what I thought of it at first, but it has grown on me.

IMG_7084.JPG

Also, I have reconnected with a friend of mine from childhood. She is a Beachbody Coach, and she is killing it. I did her last challenge and decided to join her again, and it has been great. I am doing the 21 Day Fix workouts, barre3 at 6am 2 days a week, and walking. I love being a part of a group. Even though I am a Health Coach, I still need a coach.

I am also sleeping great now that Henry is sleeping through the night, and I started using magnesium gel on my feet. Seriously…I am sleeping like a baby. I highly recommend trying it!

Well, friends, that is all I have for now. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend with family and friends.

I will leave you with a picture of our happy boy…

IMG_7094.JPG

Are you getting any sleep?

“Are you getting any sleep?” This is the the number one question I get asked as a new mom. For a good month and a half, I would answer (with great pride), “Yes, Henry is actually sleeping through the night!” Then, they would tell me how lucky we are that he is sleeping through the night. What I didn’t tell them was that he was not the best napper. Tyler and I both agreed, though, that we would take restful nights over (sometimes) napless days.

“Hi Mom. I am ready to get up (even though I only slept for 30 minutes). Aren’t you impressed with how I turned my body?”

IMG_6328.JPG

As with everything with a baby, the tides changed, and our sweet boy stopped sleeping through the night, AND he was not napping. Oh no. This was not okay. We knew what it felt like to sleep through the night, and we knew he could do it. It was time to get serious, and, most importantly, be consistent with whatever we decided to do. I talked to as many new moms as I could to see what they were doing because babies and parents need sleep!

Before I jump into what we are trying right now, I wanted to say that these are things that are resonating with us and what we think will work for Henry. Every parent has to figure out what works for them and their baby/babies.

So…after talking to 5 or 6 moms, I realized that we had not been giving him enough time to self-soothe (especially at night), it was time for him to transition to his room at night (he had been napping in there for over a month), and he needed more to eat before he went to bed. The last thing we did which I swore I was never going to do was buy a sound machine. Every new mom I talked to swears by them. To quote my best friend, “There are worse sleep props out there.” Very true. Actually, one of my new mom friends said that there was a study done showing that sound machines help babies/people sleep deeper. Anyway, I caved.

Thursday night was a big night around here. Henry slept in his own bed, and everyone did well except for me! I think I looked at the monitor no less than 20 times. Tyler, of course, slept great. Henry woke up twice, and I never went in his room. He cried for 10-15 minutes and put himself back to sleep both times. WHAT??? My child? You mean he didn’t need to nurse to fall back asleep? For the past 2 weeks, he would only nurse for 3 minutes or so and fall back asleep, so I knew he wasn’t hungry. Needless to say, Thursday night was a game changer. He is sleeping around 11 hours at night and taking (somewhat) better naps. I know naps will get better with time. For now, we are all resting better at night.

Tyler fills him up with the good stuff while I pump…

IMG_6381.JPG

Henry’s sleep habits consumed my every thought for a good two weeks. I feel so much better having a plan.

Life sure has changed, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Henry brings us so much joy. His little personality is really starting to come out. Fun times ahead!

Happy FALL from our little pumpkin!

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

Hi there! I hope you are doing well!

Our sweet boy is 15 weeks old! The days sure can be long, but the months are flying by! He is changing and growing so much everyday. It is so much fun to watch. Last night, he laughed for the first time! Luckily, Tyler was home and got it on video. I was making a ridiculous noise with my mouth. He actually tried to mimic me this morning. These moments really are precious. I feel very lucky to be able to be home with him and work two (half) days a week. I am hoping it will be the perfect balance for all of us. I think I had my first “crazy mom” moment last week when I took him to the nursery for the first time. So. Many. Germs. I was ready to hire a babysitter that afternoon or take the year off from my job. I didn’t really want to take the year off because I love my job! I am a Health Coach at Westminster for the faculty and staff.  It is incredibly rewarding, and I love the school. After some thought, talking to other moms, and another day at the nursery, I think we are settled on keeping him there. It will be good for him to be exposed to germs and not be the center of attention all the time. Who knows…he might make some lifelong buddies once they all start sitting up and crawling. 🙂

First day of school! Clearly, he is excited.

IMG_6060.JPG

I wanted to share some of the changes that have happened to me since having Henry. All in all, I feel good. Right now, it is tough to get to barre3 in the morning with Henry’s eating and napping schedule, so I am doing the 21 Day Fix from Beachbody. I love it because I am done in 30 minutes, and I can do it while Henry is napping. I have been going to barre3 on Saturday mornings, and it feels so good to get away, connect with women, and move my body for a full hour! I am looking forward to being able to go more often once Henry starts to stay up longer in the morning (I hear I will miss all these naps :)). Also, no one told me about sweating at night. OMG! I wake up at 3am drenched. Breastfeeding is awesome, but this side effect is less than awesome. The other thing (which I knew about thanks to my sister) is that my hair is falling out like crazy in the shower, and I am shedding all over the house. I can’t believe how much I get up in the vacuum. Luckily, I have a lot of hair! I have also noticed that some parts of my hair are curling up more so than usual while other parts are straight. Weird. It is all worth except for this one…cellulite. Boo!!! I definitely have more cellulite now. I am hoping my skin starts to smooth back out at some point, but if it doesn’t…oh well. We have an amazing little boy. 🙂

I mean really…those eyes.

Have a great week!

Life with a Baby

Hi there! This post is long overdue! Henry is already 11 weeks old!

I am finding that life with a baby is AMAZING, and it can also be exhausting. Therefore, writing a blog post gets put on the back burner more than I would like. These days laundry, working out, cleaning up, taking a shower, and cooking have been getting my attention while Henry is sleeping.  All that to say, I am glad you are here, and it feels good to check in!

Like I said, life with a baby is amazing. Seriously the most tiring but most rewarding job ever. I am really feeling the tired part today because Tyler went back to work after being with us for the last 6 weeks. I felt like Tyler was going away for 6 months this morning, but he is just 4 miles away and will be back by dinner. Ha! We definitely missed him today, and he missed us. The reality is that we have bills to pay. Boo! We did have a great time though. Tyler got a lot of projects done around the house and bonded with Hnery. They sure do love each other.  Melts my heart.

He gave him this sweet smile the other day…

IMG_5530.JPG

Heartbreaker!

Henry is sleeping almost 8 hours a night (yay) which is helping me to feel like my old self. Although I was feeling pretty blah last weekend. I hardly wear makeup anymore (just eyeliner and some blush), and I definitely don’t wear nice clothes. The good news is that I can actually feel my abs again! I get in a walk or barre3 class daily, and I am still prioritizing eating well and cooking. My goal is to tone up a little bit before baby #2.  I did make it to my first yoga class yesterday since Henry was born, and it felt amazing! I am so sore today, but it is a good sore. I definitely need to work on my chaturangas again!

The biggest things that have changed since Henry was born are…

  • Going out to eat at 5pm because waiting until after the 7pm feeding would be too late. Blue plate special anyone?
  • Still feeling tired after 8 hours of sleep (Henry is sleeping 8 hours a night, but he sleeps in our bathroom and I wake up to every little noise he makes. Tyler, on the other hand, sleeps right through it. Lucky!)
  • Feeling almost tipsy after a 1/4 of a glass of wine. I am enjoying breastfeeding, but I CANNOT wait to be able to have a full glass of red wine!!!
  • Nothing goes as planned. This has been the biggest adjustment for us. You HAVE to be flexible. 🙂
  • Experiencing a love I never knew existed. I love Henry more than I ever thought possible. He is the best thing I have ever done.

I will leave you with some pictures of our sweet little man…
